Annual Well Visits

Once your puppy or kitten is a year old, it should visit Animal Medical Care on a regular basis to ensure that he or she is physically healthy, free of parasites and worms, up-to-date on vaccines, and free of fleas and ticks. Annual lab work is also recommended to detect and prevent potential health issues.

AMC’s annual well care services include:

Annual Physical – Just like the yearly physical that you and your family members get, your pet’s annual wellness exam can help identify problems before or as soon as they arise, which typically improves the chances of successful treatment and lowers the over-all cost to keep your pet healthy.

Vaccinations – Many vaccines, including rabies which is prevalent in the Gainesville and Hall County areas, must be given annually to be effective.  Other vaccines need to be administered only every three years. AMC will track your pet’s vaccination schedule to keep them on track at annual wellness visits.

Internal and External Worms and Parasites – A number of worms and parasites can make your pet sick at any point in their life. All infestations are avoidable or treatable with proper medication. Worms of concern include heartworms, ringworms, tapeworms, and hookworms.

Lab work - With our reference laboratory, we can detect a number of conditions that may go unnoticed with a general physical examination. Lab work establishes a baseline for your pet that can then be compared to future results for early detection and treatment.

Although most of these services can be provided with one annual visit (depending on your choice of preventative medications), many of our clients break preventative care services up into two annual visits. Whatever your preference, an annual preventative care routine for your pet is the best way to help us provide life to years, and years to life.
